  • A virtual doctor's appointment will be arranged for you by Karoo Bioscience.
  • If the doctor concludes that a cannabis product is an appropriate treatment they will issue a prescription.
  • Karoo Bioscience pays the R350 application fee.
  • SAHPRA approves your prescription (and supporting documentation) and issues a Section 21 approval letter, which contains the name of the doctor, the name of the patient and the prescribed medicinal product.
  • Estimated time of approval is 48 hours.
  • The invoice for your medicinal cannabis, including the delivery fee will be sent to by the pharmacy prior to delivery to you door.
  • Using the letter of consent you provided, Karoo Bioscience collects your medicinal product from the pharmacy and delivers it to you.

It is now possible to purchase cannabis flower legally in South Africa. The only 100% legal access pathway is through a doctor’s prescription, approved by SAHPRA as an unregistered medicine in terms of Section 21 of the Medicines Act, and then dispensed through a pharmacy.

Karoo Bioscience will guide you through the process and we will deliver to your door. If you are one of the first 200 patients, your doctor’s appointment and the SAHPRA application fee are sponsored by Karoo Bioscience. You pay only for your medicinal cannabis product, which is sold to you by a pharmacy.
